We participated this year at the annual International Medieval Congress in Leeds, UK. At our session, entitled “Linking medieval bronze doors: making, sensing, documentation”, we had three very interesting papers discussing different aspects of medieval doors:
Heike Schlie talked about “The Iconology of Technique and Material in Medieval Bronze Doors”, while Martin Fera focused on “Image-based Metric and Semantic Modelling of Medieval Bronze Doors”, showing us the challenges and the success of the documentation of the doors. Thomas Kaffenberger talked about “Artistic Creativity and Cultural Emulation: The Medieval Church Doors of Svaneti, Georgia” and provided deep insights into Georgian wooden doors. All in all, it was a fantastic session, the room was full (not to say crowded) and we had plenty of opportunities to promote our project.
